Model Casting Tips – Seen, Wanted, Booked!

To get started as a model, you usually start as a candidate at a casting for a specific shooting or model job. In order to get more and more jobs you have to convince in the interview. To be perfectly prepared for your next model casting, we have compiled all the important tips for you here.

#The Perfect Styling

Just like for all other job interviews, the first impression is important during model castings - so is your styling. But what do you prefer to wear as a model for an interview? We will show you our recommendations for a successful model casting:

You should choose your clothes in a discreet but figure-accentuating way. Always keep in mind that you are in focus and should therefore not be distracted by eye-catching clothing. To make your figure stand out, you should choose tight-fitting clothes.

Especially with your styling you can prove that you are made for the model business. Show style consciousness and sector knowledge by e.g. wearing clothes of modern brands and using current trends.

If you have your very own style, then you should express this, because authenticity looks sympathetic.

#Preparations For The Model Casting

When you are invited to a model casting, the first thing you need to carry with you is your model sedcard. If you are still inexperienced in the model business you can improve your Sedcard with TFP Shootings.

Even if we are talking about a model casting, it is pretty similar to a classic job interview in the end. Good looks alone won't let you get a job as a model. You should prepare yourself for some questions and think about suitable answers. In the following we will show you which questions you might be confronted with:

Why do you want to work for this agency / this job?
Which models and / or model types does the agency represent / what does the company stand for?
Why do you fit well into the agency / the job?
How open are you to new challenges?

#The Procedure of a Model Casting

There are two types of model castings that differ in the procedure. We make you aware of the differences, so that you know what to expect at the respective castings. Do you want to start your carreer as a model? Apply now!

Open Castings

For open castings there is no direct invitation, only a general announcement. Open castings usually take place in shopping centres or fashion shops. Previously, advertising for the casting is made via radio, social media or other channels and everyone who is interested can participate. The applicants present themselves to the jury unfiltered and have to convince in the shortest possible time. Since everyone is allowed to enter without registration, the competition is quite big and you only have a few minutes to present yourself. If the jury likes you, you will enter the second round and can impress the company on the catwalk, during a trial shooting or an interview.

Closed Castings

You can compare the closed model casting with a classic application. After you have successfully applied, you will be invited for an interview. Although you have a smaller competition here, this fact does not make the application process any easier. All applicants have already convinced the jury in their very personal way and now it's up to you to present yourself ideally. You will have considerably more time to introduce yourself and present your personality than is the case with an open casting. If you are facing a closed casting, use the above questions to approach the interview self-confidently and prepared.
