Mannequin

The name mannequin was used in the nineteenth century in France, and originates from the Netherlands. It means ´manikin´ and is an anatomical model of a person. Since 1858 the concept of a mannequin has changed and instead of a doll the designers started to use people as models to present their new looks. Nowadays these people are known as fashion models, runway models or couture models.
